12k Short Film

(...) I'm making a short (12 minute or so) film with Corey Fuller that's sort of a quite, amorphous film about the aesthetics of 12k. It's not really a history, not really a documentary and not really a straight up "music video". But, at the same time, sort of a combination of all three. We're making it to be one part of two projects that will go on a DVD release next spring. I don't want to say too much until we have an official announcement and statement to make... But, suffice to say, it's going to look really nice!

Nowy, drugi w historii 12k winyl znalazł się już w sprzedaży. Przypominam, że jest to dwunastocalowa EPka duetu Savvas Ysatis/Taylor Deupree pt. Hourglass. Z tej okazji poprzednie wydawnictwo tej pary, EPka The Sleeping Morning (CD) została przeceniona. Jednocześnie ruszyła sprzedaż najnowszego DVD ze stajni LINE - Optofonica. I tutaj analogicznie jak w przypadku wydawnictwa Ysatis/Deupree, pozostałe krążki DVD z katalogu wydawcy zostały przecenione.

Zapowiedzi

Nowy album Minamo ma ukazać się w styczniu 2010 roku. Oczywiście nakładem 12k.

Lovesliescrushing "CRWTH (Chorus Redux)"

The original release of Chorus itself was inspired by a challenge to make a Lovesliescrushing album abandoning Scott Cortez' trademark guitar work and use only the voice. Chorus was created by taking vocal tracks, deconstructing them via minimal processing, and turning them into new compositions.

Cortez spliced the voice at the phoneme level using a tedious cut/paste method, creating a phonetic dust. These particles were treated to create a diverse tonal palette of looped rhythms, low bass registers, warm drones, clicks, siren whoops, birdlike whistles and then arranged to form new delicate figures. The voice becomes indecipherable glossolalia, divorced from meaning and morph into abstract lush tones that envelop the song like a droning, luminous cloud.

The "voice as an instrument" was never truer than on Chorus, because it is the sonic material for the music itself, exploding the songs into ghostly remnants of their origin, the human voice.

The original very limited edition was released only in Peru and highly sought after. In the process of trying to obtain a copy of this recording Richard Chartier contacted Cortez directly. After long discussions of the work of Lovesliescrushing, Cortez was asked by Richard Chartier to do something special for a LINE release and came up with an idea to revisit the tracks that comprise Chorus. The concept behind CRWTH was to abstract even further upon an abstraction. CRWTH is a re-edited take on the material, an alternate version of the album, not exactly a remix album, but an alternate version for Chorus, a redux. CRWTH is even more spectral, spacial, and hushed.

The CRWTH CD contains a special in-package code for a free download of the full original 14 track Chorus release plus 3 additional reworkings.

Working with harmonics and textures as articulated not only through instruments/objects, in space and place, but also in time and the dislocation of the remote, Robert Curgenven's sound explores shifting layers in the fabric of fields of perception, creating vast landscapes from carefully detailed recordings through to immersive resonances via deft manipulations of sound pressure. Employing only analogue means, in a variety of contexts from pure field recordings to feedback and instrumental harmonics to shape relations through sound, his work interweaves the unfolding of complex beauty and the quiet brutality of nature in all of its forms, described by one audience member as "like a punch in the face while elsewhere flowers bloomed."

Ruszyła sprzedaż nowych wydawnictw Spekk. Po raz kolejny wydawca pokusił się o wydanie 3 pozycji na raz. I po raz kolejny premiuje zakup co najmniej dwóch z nich przy jednym zamówieniu. Bonus ów jest dość oryginalny - są to... pałeczki do jedzenia Spekk. :) Poniżej fotka. Nie wiem jak Wy, ale ja jestem bardzo przyjemnie zaskoczony. Stylowy gadżet. :)
